Should I pray for the others?
Prayer is a conversation with God. It is the calmest time of the day or the first thing in the morning.
Prayer is a sepia photograph, a return to your grandparents' house and to the timeless time of your childhood. It is the Lord’s Prayer talking to God to help you in your exams. It is a shelter from the cold and cozy silence. To pray is to have a memory.
It is the only thing you can do when you can do no more, and it is the form of commitment of those who have no other way to do it, as when we pray for a sick person who is going to be operated and everything is in the hands of the surgeon (and God).
Prayer works miracles, it offers comfort to the one who prays and to the one for whom you pray.
To pray is to say I will pray for you and, also, pray for me. And it is, therefore, the opposite of vanity.
Prayer is the acceptance of your limitations. It is learning to accept oneself when what could have been, has not been. It is to live without resentment, to learn to forget, to accept defeat with dignity, and to celebrate triumph with humility.
To pray is to seek strength and to hope that things will be as they should be.
Prayer is optimism, not giving up, fighting and resisting. To pray is fragility and fortitude.
To pray is to disconnect and turn off the cell phone. It is to prepare mentally for what is to come. It is not only looking for courage but also inspiration, the light, the clearing amid the thicket.
Prayer is reasoning, even if it seems the most irrational thing to do. It is a pause in an agitated world. It is calm when everything is anxiety. And it's escaping from the dictatorship of fun.
Prayer is an extreme form of independence. Prayer is a hidden pleasure, reserved for intimacy. It is a private act, and almost hidden, which, when done in company, requires a great deal of trust.
Prayer is a declaration of love for God.
To pray, and above all to be prayed for, is the greatest aspiration one can have in life. It is an immense privilege. It is to love someone enough to pray for them, and to have someone love you enough to pray for you.
Is there any greater joy than to know that there is a mother, a brother, a son, or a friend who asks God to protect you, give you health, enlighten you, help you, accompany you, and be with you always?
To pray is to have faith. To have faith in life, in people, in your friends, in your children, in your parents, in God.
Prayer is a superpower that prepares us to do good.
Prayer is believing and actively seeking a better world.
